Family Court and Magistrates Court - Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Support
Attending Court can be a difficult and anxious experience. Our Court support workers provide support with Family Court or Domestic and Family Violence proceedings.

Our service provides independent support and information in line with the relevant resources including the current Family Law and Domestic and Family Violence Legislation and to provide information to Applicants and Respondents on the Courts processes and procedures.

Our support workers provide assistance to either party who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing Domestic and Family Violence and are seeking to apply for, respond to, vary or revoke a Domestic Violence Protection Order. Our workers are not able to provide legal advice.

Our support workers are qualified support workers with extensive experience in Family Court and Domestic and Family Violence proceedings, the Courts processes and experienced liaising with the Courts personnel.

Our Court support workers can attend Court and provide emotional support to either party that is appearing for Mention or Hearing and offer guidance to understand what Orders are being sought by the other party and debrief after Interim/Final Orders have been made. In some circumstances our service also offers comprehensive support as a “Mackenzie Friend” to self-represented litigants (at the Judge’s discretion) before the Federal Circuit Court Brisbane/Family Court of Australia Brisbane.
